The Spark — 2022

A Scam Changes Everything

It started with a phone call. A woman — trusting, careful, and completely unsuspecting — was convinced by scammers posing as PayPal that her account had been compromised. They told her to withdraw $49,000 in cash, wrap it in aluminum foil, and ship it to them. She did. Every dollar was gone. When Julius heard this story, something shifted. This wasn't just a tech problem — it was a human one. And it was happening everywhere, to people who had no one to turn to.

Research — 2023–2024

Listening Before Building

We spent months talking to seniors, caregivers, and community organizations across the US. The message was consistent: people didn't need more tech — they needed someone to help them use what they already had, and protect them from those who would exploit it.

Beta Launch — January 2025

300 Users. One Mission.

In January 2025, we quietly launched Jortty's beta with 300 hand-picked users. The response was immediate and emotional — people finally had a place to turn. Stories poured in: scams caught, accounts recovered, confidence restored. We knew we had something real.

Development & Growth — 2024–2025

Building, Beta & Beyond

Development kicked off in 2024 with a small group of 25 beta users who helped shape the product from the ground up. By early 2025, we had grown to 300 beta users and the feedback was clear: people needed more. We added Jortty Voice — natural, tap-to-talk support with no wake words — TechConnect, a directory of vetted local tech helpers, and TrueDial, a way to verify phone numbers before answering. Every feature was built in direct response to what our users told us they needed.

Scamify 3.0: Always-On Inbox Protection

This April, we're launching Scamify 3.0 — our most powerful feature yet. Instead of forwarding suspicious emails manually, Jortty will silently scan your inbox in the background and move scam emails into clearly labeled folders before you ever see them. Set it once. Stay protected forever.

Jortty was built by people who have spent their careers at the intersection of technology and real human need.

Julius McGee

Founder & CEO

Julius didn't build Jortty from a boardroom — he built it from thousands of living rooms. After a career at Apple and Comcast, he founded Nerd Alert, where he personally showed up to over 10,000 homes and offices across South Florida, sitting beside people who were frustrated, confused, and too often taken advantage of by a tech world that moved too fast for them. That experience changed him. He started giving talks on cybersecurity, AI, and digital safety to large communities — and the more people he met, the clearer the mission became. Jortty is the platform he always wished existed for the people he spent years serving.

Bobby Dorlus

Co-Founder & CTO

Bobby spent nine years at Twitter helping keep one of the world's most demanding platforms running at scale — the kind of infrastructure that has to work flawlessly for hundreds of millions of people, every second of every day. That experience gave him something rare: the ability to build technology that is both technically brilliant and genuinely reliable. A speaker who has taken the stage from San Francisco to Tel Aviv, Bobby brings more than credentials to Jortty — he brings a deep belief that powerful technology should be in service of people, not the other way around. He's here to make sure Jortty is built to last.
